Chan Jones
[Text nur in Englisch]

DOB: 3/8/89
Home: Franklin, NC
Disciplines: Creek, Racing, and occasionally some Freestyle

Chan Jones started boating in 2002 at the age of 13. Most of his time in his early days of paddling he spent on rivers near his home in the mountains of western NC. By age 15, he had run classic American whitewater rivers such as Chattooga’s legendary Section IV, the Upper Youghiogheny, the Upper Gauley, and the Upper Tellico. After his first trip down the Tellico, he realized that creeking is his favorite type of paddling and lately, he’s been chasing the rain with the Salto.

Chan is also a Wildwater racer who qualified and accepted positions on the 2005 and 2006 USA Wildwater Team. In 2005 he traveled to Mezzanna, Italy for the Wildwater Junior World Championships where he finished as the top American. In 2006, he elected to stay in the United States in order to compete in the USA Wildwater National Championships held in Salida, Colorado, where he won his first National Championship among stiff competition in the Junior division.  In racing, Chan’s sights are set on next year’s Wildwater World Championships to be held at the newly-completed National Whitewater Center in Charlotte, NC and the infamous Green Narrows Race.

Please refer to the Team Eskimo USA blog for current information and updates on Chan and (hopefully) other Eskimo paddlers.
